Sony dropped the news on July 1st: starting January 2028, no more physical discs for new games on PlayStation consoles. Games released before that date aren't affected — this only applies going forward. Combined with GTA 6 already ditching a disc for its physical edition and the PS3/Vita stores shutting down, it feels like a real turning point for physical media on PlayStation.

Switching consoles in 2028. Really doesn't matter which one at this point. PS bought me DMC on PS2 so I'm eternally grateful but that's where my loyalty ends with them.
