The brutal gameplay along with it’s secrets, discovery, lore, bossfights and NPCs hooked me. The gameplay loop to me was new. You die and return to where you died to gather your souls. The Nexus hub and it’s NPC’s. Side Quests involving said NPCs. It’s crazy to think how FromSoftware never looked back. Each game improved upon the last. It’s an achievement culminating into the recent Elden Ring.
