Red Dead Redemption has the greatest ending gameplay sequence in video games in my opinion. It was no easy feat for me to choose trust me. I played hundreds of different videogames over a few decades and yet this one reigns supreme in regards to endings.
The reason why I love Red Dead Redemption’s ending was due to it’s execution. No pun intended. You spend a dew dozen hours playing through the campaign and never see it coming. 99.99999% of the game your playing as John Marston.
By the end of the game. John get’s executed by USA’s government by a man named Edgar Ross. John an ex-outlaw had a wife and son at the time he was killed. Fast forward after John’s death. Some years later you play as Jack Marston (John’s son) not told it’s him but you figure it out it’s him.
Jack visits his father’s grave then hops on his horse to visit ole Edgar Ross who’s fishing alone. Jack Marston confronts Edgar Ross about killing his pa. A dual commences with Jack Marston slaying Edgar Ross.
After killing Edgar, Jack Turns around as the screen turns red, it says “Red Dead Redemption”. To me it was perfect. The ending was subtle yet hit so hard at the same time. The video below shows the ending. Another great ending of note was via the first The Last of Us. That ending perfect as well.
