Presentation: Virtua Tennis 2 was the last Tennis video game I played. That was on my Dreamcast twenty years ago by the way. Matchpoint Tennis released recently via Gamepass on the Xbox Series X. I said what the hell just try it. I tried it. It sucks. End of review. Thank you for reading – Jason

Story: Matchpoint Tennis Championships has a career mode with tutorials where you customize your player and play matches to rank up for bigger tournaments and money. Career Mode is not special and seems tacked on honestly. It never gave me a sense of being a star professional athlete at all. Other than how your character looks the story is non existent.

Gameplay: Once it clicks using that damn left thumb analog this is the best part about Matchpoint Tennis Championships….the gameplay. The problem here is that the gameplay gets old fast! Just be warned their is a learning curve with aiming your shots. Gameplay Modes are My Career, Quick Match Solo or Online, Practice Mode and Training Mode. You have a few modes here but the game is so ugly visually and sound-wise it doesn’t matter how many game modes you have. My fun did not last long even when I started to win matches. Gameplay overall is below average.

Visuals/Graphics: Terrible screen tearing (the worst I ever seen). Character models look as if they were stolen from a game twenty five years ago. Matchpoint Tennis Championships only looks decent when you are overlooking a match bird’s-eye view. If the camera zooms in watch out eww!

Music/Sound: Just awful. The commentator’s voice was muffled most of the time during commentary. Music was super generic like it was ripped from a terrible video game from 1999 but worse.

Final Verdict: This game is bad. It’s ugly visually, Sound design sucks and it’s gameplay get’s old fast. True you do have a plethora of game options including online multiplayer. But who cares when everything is ugly and not fun. Thank you for reading (for real this time) – Jason

Hello all. Welcome to Jason's Video Games Source! JVGS is a independent art and entertainment video game website linked to my decade old plus Youtube channel(s) featuring tens of thousands gameplay videos made entirely by yours' truly. I created jasonsvideogamessource.com in 2022 due to Youtube demonetizing my largest gaming channel after nine years of work. It's remonetized now if you care. As a lifelong gaming enthusiast I felt it was time to start my own gaming website. Feel free to spread JVGS's content around the net in video game communities where allowed. I am NOT a video game journalist. Furthermore, JVGS has never been sponsored by any corporation. I run my own Google Adsense and Amazon affiliate links via my personal accounts here.
