#1

God of War Ragnarok is the biggest game left this year as I am writing this on September 4, 2022. God of War is Sony’s multi-generational franchise and it’s mega hitter so to speak. This is the one game you must play if you have a Playstation 5 or a Playstation 4.

God of War Ragnarok is the only must play game for fall 2022 spanning all systems in my opinion. Let’s not forget God of War 2018 was a GOTY winner even beating out the stellar John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2. God of War 2018 was the first in the new re-imagined third person God of War games that gamers had a fit about when it was originally revealed.

Judging recent gameplay reveals and videos of God of War Ragnarok combat looks more fluid and dynamic than the previous game. It’s crazy because you could pull off insane brutal combos in 2018’s God of War. I am already drooling imagining Kratos fighting Thor in a big showdown action set-piece bossfight sequence. If there is a game that could beat out Elden Ring for GOTY it’s God of War Ragnarok.

2. The Callisto Protocol

#2

Being a big fan of the Dead Space franchise as well Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Hell, I’m a fan of good survivor horror videogames in general. Which is why I have as number 2 of my top games to play this fall 2022 on Playstation 5 The Callisto Protocol.

Striking Distance Studios the studio behind The Callisto Protocol have veterans who also worked on the Dead Space franchise. I simply put two and two together. The Callisto Protocol uses Unreal Engine 5 which should make for some powerful jump-scares on Playstation 5.

I remember back when Dead Space originally launched gamers on the net would always throw around the word “visceral” when describing Dead Space. You can count on The Callisto Protocol being exactly that…visceral. The few gameplay videos on display show deep atmosphere along with that AAA presentation. I’m very hyped because this is a new franchise with new lore and opportunities.

3. Overwatch 2

Release Date: October 4, 2022

Mode: Multiplayer PVE and PVP

Genre: First-Person

Developer: Blizzard Entertainment

Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows

I am basing my choice of Overwatch 2 purely on how much time I put into playing Overwatch which was a lot. Overwatch 2 is a different game for sure. For one, it’s free to play which is going to add many more players to it’s community.

New modes include Push, Story Experience and Hero Missions. I haven’t played the beta so I can’t elaborate on specifics of it’s actual gameplay. One thing is for certain though, it’s Blizzard. Love them or hate them their games have staying power and community support. I will play Overwatch 2 when it releases no doubt.

Honorable Mentions: High on Life, Gotham Knights, Resident Evil 8 Gold Edition, Sonic Frontiers, A Plague Tale Requiem, New Tales From The Borderlands, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and many more. Thank you for reading – Jason
