Best Three Video Games To Play So Far (First Half of 2022)

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I often lurk on certain gaming forums/messageboards and would on occasion see a thread about “best game you played first half of the year?” or “best video games to play so far”. Everybody has opinions but only mine are the correct opinions…right? So I thought “Jason why not write an article on what you think are the best videogames you played so far in 2022.

I mean afterall, this is my website. So, as the saying goes it’s on. This list might not surprise you…. or maybe. So without further adieu, here are my top three best videogames that you must play that released in the first half of 2022.

Me Fighting Dragonkin

Elden Ring – Elden Ring is a masterclass in open world story telling gameplay gaming design. I’ve been playing videogames for almost forty years so it’s very very difficult to surprise me. Elden Ring is that one special videogame that deserves all of it’s great scores across the industry. I knew Elden Ring would be special because of the pedigree of it’s creators being Miyazaki and George R.R Martin.

Talent is almost everything in everything. Elden Ring has some of the best talent behind it in the gaming industry. What I adored most about Elden Ring was it’s open world emergence story telling and brutal gameplay moments, art, NPC side missions. The latter, together birthed paramount open world gaming design. I am trying to think of a better blended designed open world game that I played. I can not. And yes I played Zelda of Breath of The Wild.

Title Screen

AI: Somnium Files nirvanA Initiative – If you don’t know you better ask somebody about AI: Somnium Files nirvanA Initiative. I am currently playing this making gameplay videos for my yt channel (around 200 videos currently). As of NOW, this is my sleeper hit videogame of 2022. AI: SF nirvanA Initiative is part point and click, part detective and part dreamscape sequences (go inside people’s dreams with a time limiter). The in-game branching flowchart adds true story paths and replayability. Characters and writing are also a highlight so far. This game is all vibe, chill and fun.

Horizon: Forbidden West – It was a toss-up between this and Dying Light 2 for the third and final spot for this article. Both games are good. Neither great like their predecessors. These franchises last generation were some of my most memorable gaming experiences. I can’t exactly pin point why I was mildly let down by Horizon: Forbidden West.

The game visually was stunning as hell on Playstation 5. The story fatigued me somehwat. The whole robot dinosaurs thing just didn’t wow me this time. Looking how the story ended, I will probably be more hyped to play part 3 if there is a part 3.

So that concludes my three best games I played that released the first half of 2022. Thank you for reading – Jason
